Josh Duggar Knows So Many Gay People He Loves So Much (Audio)

Josh Duggar, head of Family Research Council Action and one of the “19 Kids” from TLC’s reality show, wants you to know he knows a lot of gay people, and he loves them, in only the way a religious right anti-gay Christian activist can.

Josh Duggar, one of the kids from TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” isn’t a kid anymore. Today, he’s a 26-year old Executive Director of the political arm of one of America’s most notorious anti-gay hate groups. And he gets in front of cameras and microphones a lot – not just TLC’s, but his boss’s, Tony Perkins.

Duggar sat down with Richard Land, the former head of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission who stepped down after a racism and plagiarism scandal.

The pair had a lovely chat about gay people, and the gay “agenda,” and the gay “lifestyle.”

Duggar wanted everyone to know that he has lots of gay friends, but because he loves them so much, he feels obligated to share the “truth,” as he believes it to be, with them. That “truth,” of course, is the claim that all gay people are sinners who are going to hell. 

He also claimed that “the other side,” meaning liberals and people who support equality, “want to silence” the Christian right, which of course must be true since we report on them daily and record their words and transcribe them so everyone can hear and read them.

“We’re going to stand up in love,” Duggar continued, “I have so many people that I know, who are gay.” He said that “we have to go out there and we have to show them the kind of love and respect that they deserve as human beings, but we also have to stand up for our religious conscience rights and making sure that people are protected.” Note that the “people” who Duggar wants to ensure are “protected” are right-wing Christians like himself, not LGBT people.

Land chimed in and turned the conversation to a more activist route, claiming gay people’s “goal is to use the power of the state to force everyone to accept and affirm their lifestyle, and to marginalize anyone who disagrees with them.” 

He then congratulated “all the people in Fayetteville” who voted against and successfully repealed a non-discrimination ordinance. 

Duggar also said that “what makes America great” is all the people who “stand up for what they believe,” i.e., that gays are bad.

But fortunately for gay people, they have Duggar and Land to save them from a “sad, lonely lifestyle.”

“It just seemed to me that one of the cruelest jokes,” Land says according to Right Wing Watch, “the devil has ever played is to have that lifestyle described as ‘gay.’”
