Guess What Happens When NOM Asks Facebook Fans To Post Stories Of Couples With Strong Marriages

The National Organization For Marriage asked Facebook fans to write about couples who inspire them. Remember what happened when the Duggars did something similar?

One month ago Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar asked their Facebook fans to post photos of them kissing – presumably their different sex legally married spouse. Quickly, same-sex couples joined in the fun, and at first, it was fun for all – or at least most. But, despite there being few if any anti-gay comments, the Duggars started deleting the same-sex kissing couples’ pics. And then, social media war, which spread over into the rest of the media world, culminating in a petitions battle to get TLC to cancel – or keep – the Duggars’ “19 Kids and Counting” reality TV show, followed by another social media war, #DefendTheDuggars, that was clearly won by the pro-equality crowd.

Well, never ones to have an original idea, NOM has taken a page from their Facebook friends and yesterday posted the photo above, writing,

Is there a couple in your life who have a strong, lasting marriage that inspires you? Tag them in the comments! #1m1w

You can guess what happened next, and, except for the anti-gay comments, it is awesome.

John Becker, whose photo was the first the Duggars deleted, jumped on the NOM request. You can see some of NOM’s fans aren’t very friendly:

Some more pro-equality posts, sans the anti-gay ignorance:
