Watch: Colbert Eviscerates Anti-Gay GOP Lawmaker Who Believes Obama Is Possessed By A Demon

GOP wave? Who cares! Stephen Colbert has a great time explaining to his audience that a newly-elected GOP lawmaker and admitted exorcist is the face of the Republican back bench.

Last night Stephen Colbert introduced his audience to Gordon Klingenschmitt. Regular NCRM readers know the former Navy Chaplain who prefers to be called “Dr. Chaps” is an ultra-conservative radical religious nut who was just elected to the Colorado House of Representatives – with 70 percent of the vote.

Colbert mocked those who worry about the GOP owning the vast majority of local and state governments, the “farm teams,” lamenting that the Republican back bench for cultivating national talent is strong and deep.

It is neither he insists.

Enter Gordon Klingenschmitt.

Colbert showed a campaign commercial featuring Dr. Chaps holding a pitchfork, which, the pastor insisted, is “a symbol of the positive campaign that I am running.”

“Yes,” Colbert replied, “it is reminiscent of the positive campaign the villagers ran to elect Frankenstein. But Klingenschmitt’s campaign stands for so much more… But Klingenschmitt doesn’t hate the gays, he’s just concerned for them, as he demonstrates on his YouTube program.”

“The demonic spirits inside the homosexual agenda,” Klingenschmitt can be heard saying in another clip, “they’re trying to redefine family, trying to homosexualize and recruit your children… Jesus, if he were giving marriage counseling to two gay men who were married, Jesus would command them to get divorced.”

“Yes,” Colbert quipped, “if Jesus were their marriage counselor, he would tell them to get divorced. And he would take 65 minutes to do it, so he could charge them the second hour. But it’s not just the gays — everyone needs a little Klingenschmitt exorcism.”

Later, Colbert shows a clip of Klingenschmitt exorcising the President of the United States of America.

“Father in Heaven we pray against the demon of tyranny who is using the White House occupant, that demonic spirit is oppressing us. Father, we command it to leave — we pray that you will help the President repent.”

“Yes,” Colbert said, “Obama is possessed by a demon — and he won’t even show us its birth certificate. Now, saying the president is possessed by a demon could be seen as a tad inflammatory, but after he was elected, Klingenschmitt told a Colorado newspaper, ‘I would say it is time for people of good will on both sides of the political debate to come together to have reasonable discussions about these issues.’”

“Now that the bruising campaign is over,” Colbert concluded, “Democrats should join Klingenschmitt in a reasonable discussion about whether or not Barack Obama is possessed by a demon.”
