Tweet Of The Day: Michael Sam
Michael Sam once again proves he’s a gentleman and a nice guy. (And he’s not the only one.)
Jason Collins is the first active male athlete from one of the four major North American professional team sports to publicly come out as gay, which he did in May of last year. Today, after 16 seasons with the NBA, Collins announced that he is retiring, at the age of 35.
This afternoon, upon hearing the news, Michael Sam – proving once again what a gentleman he is – sent out this tweet:
Congrats to @jasoncollins98 on the end of a long and successful career. Wishing you the best on what’s to come next, I know it’ll be great

But Collins, too, is a gentleman, as he proved just yesterday:
Congrats to @MichaelSamNFL on being named one of @GQMagazine‘s Men of the Year. #GQMOTY pic.twitter.com/mKW81hmoXZ

As for what’s next, no doubt Collins will be in high demand. One example:
Congrats to @BillieJeanKing on the launch of the new @BJKLInitiative. I’m so honored to be on the advisory board for this important endeavor
