A federal judge has just ruled South Carolina’s ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional.
U.S. District Court Judge Richard Mark Gergel has just issued a ruling striking down South Carolina’s ban on same-sex marriage. He has temporarily stayed his ruling until November 20, 2014, at 12:00 noon.
Relying on “the clearly stated authority of the Fourth Circuit’s seminal decision in Bostic,” the ruling finding Virginia’s same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional, Judge Gergel also pointed to North Carolina’s ruling striking down the ban on same-sex marriage.
