Breaking: Federal Judge Rules Missouri Ban On Same-Sex Marriage Unconstitutional

A federal judge has just struck down Missouri’s same-sex marriage ban, one day after the 6th Circuit ruled bans are constitutional.

Federal District Judge Ortrie D. Smith has just ruled that Missouri’s ban on same-sex marriage violates the U.S. Constitution, just two days after a state judge ruled the same. Wednesday’s ruling applied only to St. Louis, but today’s ruling encompasses the entire state.

Judge Smith stay his ruling, as most federal judges have done.

The case is Lawson v. Kelly, argued by the Missouri ACLU.

Missouri sits in the 8th Circuit.
