Watch: Gov. Rick Scott Admits He Delayed Execution So AG Pam Bondi Could Go To A Fundraiser

Last month, Florida Governor Rick Scott signed off of the delay of an execution so his Attorney General, Pam Bondi, could attend her campaign re-election fundraiser.

50-year old Marshall Lee Gore raped, strangled, and murdered a 30-year old woman, and later murdered another. After two delays, his execution was scheduled for September 10. Unfortunately, Florida’s Republican Attorney General Pam Bondi was busy that night. She had scheduled a shindig at her South Tampa home, kicking off her re-election campaign with a fundraiser.

So Bondi asked Florida’s GOP Governor Rick Scott for an extension.

There is no graver responsibility and act of state government than an execution,” the Tampa Bay Times reported when the delay was announced. The Times stated that Gov. Scott said “he did not know the reason for the request, and he declined to answer when asked whether he considers a campaign fundraiser an appropriate reason to reschedule an execution.”

“When another Cabinet officer asks for something, we try to work with them,” Scott said.

Last night, at the final debate between Gov. Scott and Democrat Charlie Crist, the Florida governor came clean.

After almost two minutes of pressure by former Gov. Crist, Scott, almost in desperation, snapped, “She apologized, she apologized. What do you like her to do? She apologized, Charlie. What do you like her to do?”
