Violent Anti-Gay Hate Group Marches In France Against Surrogacy For Gay Families

About 70,000 marched in Paris with the violent anti-gay hate group La Manif Pour Tous against allowing surrogacy or in-vitro fertilization for same-sex couples.

Before France legalized same-sex marriage, a conservative anti-gay group calling themselves La Manif Pour Tous gained strength, ultimately benefitting from an association with the National Organization For Marriage’s Brian Brown. La Manif Pour Tous staged highly graphic and violent anti-gay protests, battling same-sex marriage and police.

Yesterday, despite losing, that same group took to the streets of Paris and Bordeaux to protest surrogacy, in-vitro fertilization, and all forms of medically assisted reproduction for same-sex couples, even though surrogacy is not legal in France.

Marchers shouted and carried banners saying, “A woman is not a baby-machine,” and “No to surrogate mothers.” One fear-mongering protestor reportedly claimed, “The next stage will be to put children on shop shelves and we will choose the ones we like.”

AFP reports La Manif Pour Tous President Ludovine de la Rochere is demanding medically assisted reproduction techniques for same-sex couples must be “fought at all costs.”

The group estimated that 500,000 people took part in the demonstration. Police however said 70,000 were present in the capital.

In Bordeaux, police said 7,500 people turned out for the march while organisers claimed 30,000.

Surrogacy is a form of “industrialisation” and “modern slavery”, judged another protester, 30-year-old Thibault.

“Because the exploitation of women is intolerable; because the child is not an object; because all children need a father and a mother,” the group said in an announcement, RT reports, adding “it called for people to come out and support ‘traditional family values.'”

Last month, Joe Jervis noted that La Manif Pour Tous “is backed by France’s neo-Nazi National Front party and by a group which advocates for a Catholic theocracy.”
