So, Ted Cruz Has Something To Say About The Supreme Court’s Marriage Announcement…

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz is not very happy about today’s Supreme Court announcement on same-sex marriage, and he’s going to take action!

Tea Party Republican U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, rose to stardom thanks to his highly-manipulative persona and ability to totally disrespect tradition, which makes his statement today about “traditional” marriage so hypocritical.

Not surprisingly, the Texas freshman Senator labeled the U.S. Supreme court’s decision to do nothing — to not hear seven same-sex marriage cases “judicial activism at its worst.”

The nation’s highest court — the most-respected of the three branches of government — following law and precedent is “judicial activism” in the eyes of the Canadian-born son of a Cuban preacher.

Cruz also labeled today’s inaction “tragic and indefensible,” and claimed the Court is “abdicating its duty to uphold the Constitution.”

“The fact that the Supreme Court Justices,” Cruz continued, “without providing any explanation whatsoever, have permitted lower courts to strike down so many state marriage laws is astonishing.”

Actually, 100 percent not astonishing, as the Court never provides any explanation whatsoever in why it grants or denies certiorari.

“This is judicial activism at its worst,” Cruz says. One can almost imagine him screaming and jumping up and down, his face reddening as he holds his breath. “The Constitution entrusts state legislatures, elected by the People, to define marriage consistent with the values and mores of their citizens. Unelected judges should not be imposing their policy preferences to subvert the considered judgments of democratically elected legislatures.”

Except that’s actually the Supreme Court’s job, as defined by the Founding Fathers.

“The Court is making the preposterous assumption that the People of the United States somehow silently redefined marriage in 1868 when they ratified the 14th Amendment,” Cruz adds.

Actually, no. The Court merely declined to hear seven marriage cases, likely because there has been no disagreement at the appellate level.

And then, he strikes.

Marriage is a question for the States. That is why I have introduced legislation, S. 2024, to protect the authority of state legislatures to define marriage. And that is why, when Congress returns to session, I will be introducing a constitutional amendment to prevent the federal government or the courts from attacking or striking down state marriage laws.

Traditional marriage is an institution whose integrity and vitality are critical to the health of any society. We should remain faithful to our moral heritage and never hesitate to defend it.

Yes, Cruz will now introduce legislation that will have but one goal. Since Americans will never support it — a fact Cruz must know — the goal of this faux constitutional amendment is clear: fundraising.
