NFL’s Dallas Cowboys Cut Michael Sam From Practice Team

If you’re a fan of Michael Sam but not the Cowboys that’s not a problem for you anymore.

After less than two months, the Dallas Cowboys have just released Michael Sam from their practice squad, making the former St. Louis Ram now a free agent.

TMZ reports that “Sam, who was signed to the Cowboys after failing to make the St. Louis Rams 53 man roster, was released earlier today after Dallas signed linebacker Troy Davis.”

The NFL’s Gregg Rosenthal reports “Sam was drafted by the Rams in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft, making him the first openly gay player to reach the NFL. He had a productive preseason with St. Louis, but reportedly was not a strong practice player. The Cowboys looked like a good landing spot for him because of defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli’s history of coaching up pass rushers and Dallas’ need for defensive talent.”
