RNC Chair Just Praised Hate Group Head On Gay Marriage: ‘Tony Perkins Is Right’ (Video)

Stunning. The Chairman of the Republican National Committee minutes ago praised not one but two leaders from certified anti-gay hate groups: the Family Research Council and the American Family Association, as being “right” about marriage.

Exactly 24 hours after the U.S. Supreme Court announced it would not hear any of the seven same-sex marriage cases before it, and with the nation quickly embracing the rights of same-sex couples to marry — at least 55 percent of the nation does — with soon 30 states extending marriage equality to LGBT people, the Chairman of the Republican National Committee just aligned himself with two of thew nation’s most anti-gay political activists and strategists.

On MSNBC minutes ago (video above), Reince Priebus said, “People like David Lane, and people like Tony Perkins are right, to be concerned about what’s happened here in this country over the past couple of years.”

David Lane‘s American Renewal Project is funded by the American Family Association. The AFA is a certified anti-gay hate group listed and tracked by the Southern Poverty Law Center. So is Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council.

But Lane isn’t just a GOP strategist.

Last year Lane wrote an op-ed that called for “war” against the “pagan onslaught imposing homosexual marriage.”

“You ask, ‘What is our goal?’ To wage war to restore America to our Judeo-Christian heritage with all of our might and strength that God will give us,” Lane wrote. “You ask, ‘What is our aim?’ One word only: victory, in spite of all intimidation and terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, America will ultimately collapse.”

“Where are the champions of Christ to save the nation from the pagan onslaught imposing homosexual marriage, homosexual scouts, 60 million babies done to death by abortion and red ink as far as the eye can see on America?,” Lane asked. “Who will wage war for the Soul of America and trust the living God to deliver the pagan gods into our hands and restore America to her Judeo-Christian heritage and re-establish a Christian culture?”

The op-ed appeared at the radical right wing religious website World Net Daily. It was so offensive the site removed it.

(Political Research Associates wrote about it and Lane this year in “Rumblings Of Theocratic Violence.”

Lane is also a Christian evangelical theocrat who is working hard to drive evangelical voters to the polls. Recently, he has teamed up with Senator Ted Cruz, Governors Bobby Jindal and Rick Perry, and former Gov. Mike Huckabee. All recording radio ads that emphasize the religion in attempts to get right-wing Christians to vote in November.

“The Bible is full of stories of men and women whose faith in God led them to take action during difficult times, trusting in Him for His glory,” Ted Cruz says in one. “Today God’s people are once again being called to action as we seek to restore the values our nation was founded upon and to honor the legacy of those who have given their lives in defense of our freedom.”

Tony Perkins, of course, needs no introduction. His lies and hate are well documented, not only here at The New Civil Rights Movement but by GLAAD’s Commentator Accountability Project.

Stunning.

Praising hate leaders. The Republican Party will never change.
