Watch: Is Chris Christie Now ‘Governor Shut Up’?

New Jersey Republican Governor Chris Christie lost it on a former councilman who publicly asked him about millions in unspent Hurricane Sandy funds.

It’s a video that’s gone viral.

Yesterday, at a local gathering to commemorate the second anniversary of Hurricane Sandy, which decimated a good deal of New Jersey’s coastal communities, along with parts of New York, Gov. Chris Christie held a press conference.

Former city councilman James Keady, a small businessman who now work on hurricane projects, attended and held up signs saying, “Get Sandy families back in their homes,” and “Finish the job.”

Christie went off on an unhinged rant.

“I’d be more than happy to have a debate with you anytime you like, guy, because somebody like you who doesn’t know a damn thing about what you’re talking about, except to stand up and show off when the cameras are here,” Christie said at another point. “I’ve been here when the cameras aren’t here, buddy.”

“I’m glad you had your day to show off but we’re the ones who are here to actually do the work,” Christie attacked. “So turn around and get your 15 minutes of fame and then maybe take your jacket off and roll up your sleeves and do something for the people of this state.”

And in a clip that’s been played on news programs and YouTube countless times, the now infamous line.

“So listen, you want to have the conversation later, I’m happy to have it, buddy. But until that time, sit down and shut up.”

“You all know me, so if we’re going to get into a debate here today, it’s going to get very interesting and very fun,” Christie continued. 

“I’ll tell ya, there’s about 1,000 things I’ll do tonight, going to dinner with you is about number 1,001,” Christie also said, when asked if he wanted to discuss Keady’s concerns.

Keady is accusing Christie of holding on to over $800 million in federal funds.

“It’s a failure of government,” Keady told MSNBC. 

And not very presidential.
