Watch: Jimmy Carter Tells College Students Jesus Never ‘Discriminated Against Anyone’

Former President Jimmy Carter spoke for an hour on human rights at a Michigan college and reminded students that Jesus never discriminated against anyone.

“I never knew of any word or action of Jesus Christ that discriminated against anyone,” Jimmy Carter told students on Monday, in response to a question about gay rights. The former Democratic President was speaking at the 100th anniversary celebration of Michigan’s Grand Rapids Community College.

Carter, who is now 89, then said “the sexual orientation of a person is just like the color of their skin.”

In 2000, Carter — who had run as very candidly in 1976 as a “born again” Christian — denounced his ties to the Southern Baptist Convention.

Here’s the full video, which if you have time is fascinating. It includes comments from the former First Lady, Roslyn Carter, who has also been doing outstanding work in human rights for decades.
