Now Fox News Isn’t Just Lying To Viewers, It’s Lying To Fox News

Fox News is literally stating one thing and disproving it with another in its own graphics — at the same time.

On Monday, Fox News’ on-screen graphics actually stated that the U.S. has both taken no action against ISIS, and has conducted 160 airstrikes against ISIS.

“No military action yet against ISIS, despite coalition to fight terrorists,” reads the bottom chyron, while the “Fox Facts” sidebar reads: “U.S. has conducted at least 160 airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq.”

This is far from the first “mistake” Fox News has broadcast.

In 2011, Fox News “accidentally” switched the numbers in a Gallup poll that should have shown 61 percent of Americans oppose reducing collective bargaining rights of government workers. A Fox News’ graphic showed 61 percent of Americans support reducing collective bargaining rights of government workers.

Also in 2011, a Fox News on-air graphic showed a map of the U.S., with Nevada in the place of Utah, and New Hampshire where  Vermont is.

In May 2011, when President Obama announced Navy SEALs had killed Osama bin Laden, Fox News “accidentally” announced “President Obama is in fact dead.” Which was quickly followed up by the chyron at a local Fox affiliate reporting “Obama bin Laden dead.”

And, then there’s Fox News’ contemptible habit of “accidentally” reporting a recently-disgraced Republican is a “Democrat.”

More evidence of Fox News’ contempt for truth and accuracy here. Media Matters has even more.

Also, here, here, here, and here. Or, just Google “Fox News lying.”
