Jon Stewart: ‘Oh What The NFL Wouldn’t Do Right Now’ For A Michael Sam ‘Distraction’

Watch as Jon Stewart lampoons the NFL over its terrible handling of the recent spate of domestic violence and child abuse scandals.

Last night on “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart once again took on the NFL for its amateur handling of domestic and child abuse scandals.

The comedian-slash-pundit started by detailing the NFL’s handling of Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy’s domestic abuse case. Hardy was convicted, so the Hardy “is done,” Stewart said, “until he appeals his misdemeanor conviction for domestic violence.”

“It’s the kind of firm decision making we’ve come to expect from people who don’t know what the f*ck they’re doing.”

Stewart also mocked the NFL, comparing their attempt to deal with player domestic violence by creating an in-house unit, which he compared to TV’s “Law and Order.”

“You know your business model is in rough shape when you have to appoint your own in-house special victims unit.”

Next up: Adrian Peterson, whose on-off-on suspension by Minnesota Vikings owners was fodder for Stewart.

“You need time to make sure you get this right?,” Stewart, exasperated, queried. “A 220 pound running back left railroad tracks on a 4-year-old’s leg! This ain’t Fermat’s Last Theorem!”

Asking, “what does a stupid person think of this?,” Stewart also roped in Sean Hannity’s homophobic comments, “is it going to become illegal if a parent teaches the politically [in]correct view that being gay is not normal?”

Stewart then brings up Michael Sam, reminding his audience how NFL leaders claimed having a gay player would be a “distraction.”

“Oh, what the NFL wouldn’t do right now for that kind of distraction.”
