Here’s How The Founder Of Two Of America’s Top Anti-Gay Groups Spreads Fear And Hate
Dr. James Dobson is the founder of the Family Research Council and Focus On The Family, two of America’s most anti-gay, “Christian” organizations. Here’s how he spreads fear and hate.
You might recognize the name Dr. James Dobson, the man who founded Focus On The Family and the Family Research Council. Dr. Dobson was named “the nation’s most influential evangelical leader” by Time magazine and a “kingmaker” by Slate — both accolades less than a decade ago.
Dr. Dobson, as you can imagine, is virulently anti-gay — in a grandfatherly sort of way.
Of course, he has linked the Sandy Hook shooting in Connecticut — which left 20 first graders and six teachers dead — to same-sex marriage. Of course he has claimed same-sex marriage will lead to “group marriage,” “marriage between daddies and little girls,” and “marriage between a man and his donkey.”
You would expect all that, and more, from the founder of two anti-gay organizations — one of which, the Family Research Council, now appears on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s list of active anti-gay hate groups.
But Dr. Dobson, author of more than 40 books, didn’t become successful by chance. It took work.
And in an interview with The Blaze’s Billy Hallowell that was published Monday, Dr. Dobson revealed just how he spreads his hatred of same-sex marriage, the LGBT community, liberalism, and Democrats — especially Barack Obama.
In 2012 The New Civil Rights Movement reported on a “Letter from 2012 in Obama’s America” that Dr. Dobson actually wrote four years earlier.
The letter, written in October of 2008, a month before the election, pretends to describe the changes America saw as a result of Barack Obama being elected in 2008 — in an effort to throw the election to John McCain and Sarah Palin.
Dr. Dobson writes in his letter that, in his version of 2012, the Left has gained “complete control of the Supreme Court.”Â
“Justices Roberts, Thomas, and Alito have been constantly outvoted 6-3, and they are essentially powerless,” Dobson envisioned.
He adds that as a result of this liberal majority on the Supreme Court, same-sex marriage is now the law of the land.
The most far-reaching transformation of American society came from the Supreme Court’s stunning affirmation, in early 2010, that homosexual “marriage†was a “constitutional†right that had to be respected by all 50 states because laws barring same-sex “marriage†violated the Equal Protection clause of the U.S. Constitution. Suddenly, homosexual “marriage†was the law of the land in all 50 states, and no state legislature, no state Supreme Court, no state Constitutional amendment, not even Congress, had any power to change it. The Supreme Court had ruled, and the discussion was over.
Also in his letter, Dr. Dobson predicted:
“The Boy Scouts no longer exist as an organization.”
“Elementary schools now include compulsory training in varieties of gender identity in Grade 1, including the goodness of homosexuality as one possible personal choice.”
“There are no more Roman Catholic or evangelical Protestant adoption agencies in the United States.”
“All businesses that have government contracts at the national, state or local level now have to provide documentation of equal benefits for same-sex couples.”
“The Bible can no longer be freely preached over radio or television stations when the subject matter includes such ‘offensive’ doctrines as criticizing homosexual behavior. The Supreme Court agreed that these could be kept off the air as prohibited ‘hate speech’ that is likely to incite violence and discrimination.”
“churches have no freedom to refuse to allow their buildings to be used for wedding ceremonies for homosexual couples.”
“homosexuals are now given special bonuses for enlisting in military service”
“the number of abortions has increased dramatically”
“television programs at all hours of the day contain explicit portrayals of sexual acts.”
“It is illegal for private citizens to own guns for self-defense in eight states, and the number is growing”
“The new Congress under President Obama passed a nationalized “single provider†health care system, in which the U.S. government is the provider of all health care in the United States”
“Gas costs more than $7 per gallon”
The list goes on and on and on, and not one prediction Dr. Dobson made is accurate.
So, when asked by The Blaze’s Billy Hallowell — who did not bother to mention any of these specifics — if he has seen some of these predictions come true, Dr. Dobson replied:
“Most of what I was concerned about has been validated.”
Really?
“The Boy Scouts no longer exist as an organization”?
“The Bible can no longer be freely preached over radio or television stations”?
“homosexuals are now given special bonuses for enlisting in military service”?
“It is illegal for private citizens to own guns for self-defense in eight states, and the number is growing”?
“Gas costs more than $7 per gallon”?
This is how the Religious Right lies.
And reporters, including from Glenn Beck’s The Blaze, merely give them the platform and a microphone and invite them to spread their misinformation and hatred, without the journalistic fact-checking required.
