Fox News: Message Of New Ray Rice Video Is ‘Take The Stairs’

“Fox & Friends” had a chuckle during their conversation about the new graphic Ray Rice video which purportedly shows the NFL running back assaulting his girlfriend.

Today’s revelation by TMZ of a shocking and graphic video that allegedly shows Ray Rice’s actual assault on his then-girlfriend and now wife Janay Palmer is disturbing to say the least.

Even the conservatives over at Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” called it shocking — right before they found ways to diminish the misogyny and assault it reveals.

“We should also point out, after that video, and now you know what happened there, she still married him,” Steve Doocy said this morning of Ray Rice and his wife. Palmer was still Rice’s girlfriend in February when he assaulted her. “They are currently married.”

“Rihanna went back to Chris Brown right after,” Brian Kilmeade said, of the infamous 2009 assault. “A lot of people thought that was a terrible message.”

“And then there’s Jay-Z and Beyoncé and Solange, that was also in an elevator,” Doocy continued.

“I think the message is take the stairs,” Kilmeade corrected, as Elisabeth Hasselbeck giggled.

“The message is, when you’re in an elevator, there’s a camera,” Doocy concluded.

In fact, the message should be that assault is unacceptable, and that men hitting women is unacceptable.

SportsGrid, which first reported on the Fox & Friends commentary, adds, “…or how about ‘violence against women is wrong?’ Or that ‘the NFL dropped the ball on his punishment?’ Or maybe ‘this is a terrible time to insert a joke.'”
