Citing Missouri’s openly-gay NFL player Michael Sam, the Westboro Baptist Church has just announced it will travel to Ferguson to picket the funeral of Michael Brown on Monday.
The Westboro Baptist Church, which calls itself “God Hates Fags,” has announced it will picket the funeral of Michael Brown, the 18-year old unarmed teen slain by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson. The funeral is scheduled for Monday.

“The truth of what went on when Officer Darren Wilson shot and killed 18 year old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, on August 9, 2014, may never be known,” the WBC’s picket schedule announces. “Regardless of the details, the cause was from the Lord! Missouri has made itself known worldwide for three things: Fags (e.g. Michael Sam); beastiality; and shredding the constitution in order to remove the Word of God from their streets.”
Michael Sam is the University of Missouri football player who went on the become there NFL’s first openly-gay player, hired by the St. Louis Rams.

“Parents, teachers, preachers, government actors, media, and people of Missouri: your Creator loaned you Michael Brown to raise up in obedience to God. Instead, you taught him that God is a liar, you taught him to serve himself, and thereby you raised him for the devil! All evidence points to Michael now being in Hell. It’s your fault, Missouri! His blood is on your hands! God has only just begun his righteous judgment against you: WBC rejoices!”

They conclude, “No peace without obedience!,” mocking the phrase used by demonstrators, “No peace without justice.”
The WBC is a un-affiliated Baptist church, subject to tax-exemption by the IRS.Â
Westboro often claims they will picket a funeral, but does not always show up. And sometimes they get chased out of town by groups like the Patriot Guard Riders, or blocked by the Teamsters, as happened at a Boston Marathon Bombing victim’s funeral.
