Listen: GOP Congressman Insists – Twice In One Day – Democrats Launching War On Whites

A Republican U.S. Congressman from Alabama is lashing out after a “Fox News Sunday” pundit claimed the only ones who oppose immigration are old white people.

Rep. Mo Brooks twice today has insisted that the Democratic Party is following President Barack Obama’s playbook and waging a “war on whites.”

“This is a part of the war on whites that’s being launched by the Democratic Party,” Rep. Brooks told right wing radio host Laura Ingraham. “And the way in which they’re launching this war is by claiming that whites hate everybody else.”

“It’s part of the strategy that Barack Obama implemented in 2008, continued in 2012, where he divides us all on race, on sex, greed, envy, class warfare, all those kinds of things,” Brooks insisted.

“It doesn’t make any difference if you’re a white American, a black American, a Hispanic American, an Asian American or if you’re a woman or a man,” Brooks said. “Every single demographic group is hurt by falling wages and lost jobs.” 

Perhaps sensing an opportunity for attention, given how Twitter today exploded with Brooks’ comments, quickly creating a #WarOnWhites hashtag, Brooks took his arguments to his hometown newspaper, AL.com — but backtracked by claiming his comments were about voting, when in fact they were about immigration. 

Brooks claimed that being called the “Deportation Caucus” is a compliment.

“In effect, what the Democrats are doing with their dividing America by race is they are waging a war on whites and I find that repugnant,” Brooks, R-Huntsville, said this afternoon in an interview with AL.com.

“We should not be dividing anybody based on national heritage or race. Rather, we should be bringing us all together. That’s what the melting pot ideal of America is all about. A person’s skin pigmentation is something acquired at birth that has absolutely nothing to do with the merits of the person of how one should vote.”

While talking with Ingraham, Brooks also claimed that the Democrats “are solely responsible” and they “are the ones with their policies that are causing these illegal alien children to risk their lives and to die, coming to America, to be subject to all kinds of physical and sexual abuse.”

New York Magazine observes:

“White racial victimization is a concept as old as racism itself. White reactionaries in the 19th century imagined that abolishing slavery would turn white people themselves into slaves, and the concept of white subjugation was transferred into such things as black suffrage, civil rights, and so on. The war on whites has raged continuously in the right-wing mind for more than two centuries.”
