Pat Robertson: 13 Year Old Son Has Crushes On Boys ‘Because He’s Raised By A Woman’
Pat Robertson is back giving bad advice to parents. Today, the octogenarian televangelist tells a divorced mom why her son is having crushes on other boys.
On his “700 Club” show today — which reaches one million homes daily — Pat Robertson offered some rather misguided advice to a divorced mother raising three boys. Her eldest, 13, is having crushes on boys, and rather than allow him to explore his burgeoning sexuality, the mother writes to Robertson to ask him what to do.
Robertson surmises, wrongly of course, that the teen’s “attraction is now toward other men because he’s raised by a woman.â€
The octogenarian televangelist’s advice? Denying that gays are “born that way,” Robertson advises having the father be more of a presence in the child’s life — and that will stop the crushes on other boys he’s having.
“I would get him male companions, I’d get him some man to help him, some mentor, someone who cares about young men,†Robertson suggested. “He is being raised by a single woman and that is skewing his orientation.â€
No scientific study of merit has ever supported such a claim.
