Tea Party Congressman: Real ‘War On Women’ Is Migrant Children Coming To US To Rape Women

U.S. Tea Party Congressman Louie Gohmert says the real “War on Women” are the migrant children coming across the U.S. border to rape women.

Louie Gohmert has a long history of making outrageous claims, often about LGBT people, President Barack Obama, women, and minorities. Last week, the Tea Party Texas Republican appeared on a conference call hosted by failed GOP Lt. Governor candidate E.W. Jackson, to denigrate the migrant children who are trying to enter the U.S. from Central America.

“If you want to talk about a war on women, talk about the President securing the border that allowed 7000 women to be raped or sexually assaulted in Texas,” the 60-year old Southern Baptist former judge told listeners.

Claiming there are 300,000 more migrants “in the pipeline” to the U.S., Gohmert compared undocumented immigrants entering America to a “D-Day” invasion that constitutes “imminent danger.”

Gohmert, in this audio, tosses up a lot of statistics, we have no way of verifying their accuracy.

Rep. Gohmert also claimed on that call that the migrant children, when caught, lie about the level of violence in their countries.

In fact, Honduras (especially its second-largest city, San Pedro Sula,) has been named the “murder capital of the world.”

The Pew Research Center reports that the “Honduran and Salvadoran child migrants are from some of the most violent regions in those countries. San Pedro Sula in Honduras is the world’s murder capital, with a homicide rate of 187 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants in 2013 driven by a surge in gang and drug trafficking violence. For the entire country Honduras’s murder rate was 90 per 100,000 in 2012, the highest in the world.”

The U.S. average is 4.2 per 100,000.

Right Wing Watch, which published the recordings of Gohmert’s comments, reports the Texas Congressman is “claiming that the children aren’t telling the truth.”

“Texas and the United States is [sic] being invaded and we’re in danger,” Gohmert said, before alleging that most of the unaccompanied minors are lying when they tell border patrol agents that they are escaping gang violence in Central America and have been coached to make such claims. Gohmert said minors end up telling officers that “we were told to say that we were fleeing gang violence.”

The congressmen went on to say that “the penetration of criminals and terrorists across our southern border” represents a threat to the U.S. comparable to the threat of a nuclear strike from Iran against Israel.
