Michele Bachmann: Striking Down DOMA Is ‘Denial Of Equal Protection For All Americans’ (Audio)
Tea Party Republican and likely GOP 2016 Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann is back to her favorite activity — attacking the LGBT community.
Michele Bachmann, as The New Civil Rights Movement reported earlier today, appeared on a conservative radio program and unleashed an avalanche of pent-up anti-gay hate.
In our previous report we detailed how Bachmann on Wednesday claimed there is “legislation being pushed all across the United States to punish people who don’t agree with” LGBT equality, and called the goal of the gay people “tyranny,” “deviancy,” polygamy, and child rape.
In another segment of that same radio show, Bachmann went on to attack the Supreme Court’s 2013 decision striking down Section 3 of DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act, that banned the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages.
“Well, it is a denial of equal protection for all Americans,” Bachmann insisted — apparently unaware that same-sex couples are Americans, and that same-sex marriage has no impact on different-sex marriage.Â
Right Wing Watch adds,Â
“This is a revolution that we are encountering now,†she said of marriage equality. “For all of the thousands of years of recorded human history, about 5,000 years, there is no instance of any culture, nation or tribe ever having as the established standard for marriage anything other than between man and woman. It may have been multiple women and a man, it may have been something like that, but it was always between men and women.â€
She decried marriage equality as a “radical experiment†that will have “profound consequences:†“I think that nature tells us, our biology tells us that marriage is between man and a woman, when we tamper with something that was generated by the Creator of the Universe, I think there are profound consequences that we haven’t yet realized.â€
Lest anyone think Rep. Bachmann is a real downer, she closed with this message of “love” for gay people — whom she seemed to be calling evil.
After all that, Bachmann insisted that she was communicating a message of love for gay people and that conservatives must show the nation that God “is so much more powerful than the evil we see unleashed upon the world today.â€
“Our message is to spread goodness and joy and wholeness and healing, and we do that through a loving God with a message that frees people, it doesn’t enslave people, we shouldn’t fear giving out this very good word,†Bachmann said. “It takes these concepts for the purpose of bringing liberty, joy, healing, wholeness and a fresh way of thinking for people’s lives.â€
