Maggie Gallagher Trolls Study That Finds Kids Of Gay Parents Are Happier

National Organization For Marriage co-founder Maggie Gallagher is weighing in on — trolling, actually — a new study that finds children raised by same-sex parents do better in certain areas than their peers raised by different-sex couples.

In her column at the National Review, Maggie Gallagher just weighed in on this study out of Australia that finds children raised by same-sex parents are happier, healthier, and feel a greater level of family cohesion than their peers raised by different-sex couples. 

Attempting to capture the justified outrage and investigations the deeply-flawed Regnerus anti-gay parenting “study” ignited several years ago, Gallagher noted that the “New York Times and the media are widely reporting the results of a new study of 500 children raised by same-sex couples.”

“Researchers,” the former journalist and former NOM chair quipped, “are aghast that such a shoddy piece of work, which is based on a convenience sample of parents who volunteered to be surveyed, and which relies solely on these parents’ reports to determine child well-being, should have been published in a reputable peer-reviewed journal.”

“The author is facing a petition and statement signed by hundreds of reputable academics questioning his moral character and scientific integrity,” Gallagher continued, “and the editor of the journal who published such a thing faces similar attacks and enquiries about whether the peer-review process was compromised.”

Of course, none of that is true. Gallagher is merely trolling, after losing the battle to get the Regnerus report, unscathed, in front the U.S. Supreme Court justices in a same-sex marriage case.

“Oh wait, the study shows children of same-sex parents do better than the average child, after adjusting for income. Never mind.”

LGBT activist and blogger Jeremy Hooper first noted Gallagher’s post — and that the National Review has been deleting his comments almost as soon as her piece was posted.

In May, Gallagher penned a column in which she claimed that the attorney defending Prop 8 was facing a “crisis” when he learned his daughter was a lesbian. Earlier this year, Gallagher wrote that America is “now in the gay marriage in all 50 states phase whether we like it or not.” And last year, Gallagher lamented, “I believe the Supreme Court is going to impose gay marriage in all fifty states within the next two years.”
