GOP House Nominee: Anti-Gay Americans ‘Fed Up’ Just Like Bundy Ranch Militia

GOP nominee for the U.S. House, Pastor Jody Hice, praised the Bundy Ranch militia for being “prepared to die,” then linked the “undercurrent” of frustration they have with government to “the whole battle over gay marriage.”

Pastor Jody Hice will likely become U.S. Congressman Jody Hice in November. This week he won the Georgia Republican primary in a “safe Republican” district.

Hice has a long history of dangerous and virulently anti-gay remarks, including advocating the position that gay people have a secret plot to seduce and sodomize America’s sons. Hice also thinks same-sex marriage is akin to bestiality and incest, and he has compared abortion to the genocide waged by Adolph Hitler.

Today, on his radio show, Pastor Hice spent several minutes praising the lawless Bundy Ranch militia members.

“I will never forget these ranchers on horseback,” Hice told his audience. “They were prepared to die. They were ready for confrontation. They were saying, ‘Enough is enough. You’re not going to trample on our rights any more. You have gone far enough and no further will you go.’”

“Now, that’s the image that comes to my mind,” Hice continued. “There is unquestionably an undercurrent that is taking place across America where people are getting fed up. They are saying to themselves and now beginning to say to themselves, ‘Enough is enough. We are not going to sit back while our government tramples over our liberties.’

And what other “liberties” — aside from being a freeloading taker and not paying grazing fees for years — is Hice referring to?

“I want to give you just what is the latest example: the whole battle over gay marriage, and in particular gay marriage as it relates to businesses, that businesses cannot remain committed to their personal religious convictions if there is ever a confrontation between those religious beliefs and same-sex marriage.”

Despite the fact that for a good four to five years the majority of Americans have supported same-sex marriage, Hice sees a problem.

He’s also ill-informed, likely referring to President Barack Obama’s signing of two executive orders banning discrimination in the workplace by federal contractors — which isn’t exactly about same-sex marriage per se.
