Are You A Solid Liberal? Young Outsider? Business Conservative? Take Pew’s New Survey And Find Out

The esteemed Pew Research Center has a new interactive survey of 23 short, quick questions. And them and find put where your beliefs land.

Pew Research is out with its with annual Political Typology Survey.

“To create the study,” U.S. News reports, “Pew surveyed more than 10,000 adults in the United States. Pew used cluster analysis to sort people into groups based on answers to questions about politics, lifestyle and values. Since the groups don’t rely on simple party lines, Pew was able to tease out the differences between groups other than those already committed to the Republican or Democratic Party. Although many think of the political center as one homogeneous group that lands between Democratic and Republican views on key issues, the survey found the center consists of several groups that don’t agree with either party and don’t agree with each other.”

Pew reports their “new typology has eight groups: Three are strongly ideological, highly politically engaged and overwhelmingly partisan – two on the right and one on the left.”

Steadfast Conservatives are staunch critics of government and the social safety net and are very socially conservative. Business Conservatives share Steadfast Conservatives’ preference for limited government, but differ in their support for Wall Street and business, as well as immigration reform. And Business Conservatives are far more moderate on social issues than are Steadfast Conservatives.

At the other end of the spectrum, Solid Liberals express liberal attitudes across almost every realm – government, the economy and business and foreign policy, as well as on race, homosexuality and abortion – and are reliable and loyal Democratic voters.

You can take the quiz at Pew’s site. It should only take a few short minutes.

If you like, let us know what “type” Pew says you are, in the comments. Do you agree with the results?
