First Lady Tweets #StrongerThan Support To 17 Year Old Activist Who Survived Taliban Bullet
Michelle Obama today tweeted support to Malala Yousafzai, the education activist who was the target of an attempted assassination by the Taliban — because she was female and dared to learn.
The First Lady today tweeted a photo of Malala Yousafzai, taken in the Oval Office with the First Family in October after the teenaged education activist from Pakistan recovered from an assassination attempt by the Taliban.
Thank you Malala for inspiring girls around the world to be #StrongerThan adversity and pursue their education. –mo pic.twitter.com/526lzDlGKw

Today, now 17, Malala is waging a social media campaign called Malala Day, asking supporters to tweet what adversity they are #StrongerThan.Â
I’m asking you to stand with me again on Malala Day to say: We are stronger than the enemies of education. We are stronger than fear, hatred, violence and poverty.
They thought that bullets would silence us, but they failed. Instead, out of that silence came thousands of voices. My birthday wish this year is that we all raise our voices for those under oppression, to show our own power and that courage is stronger than their campaign of fear.
The road to equality is long, but we will succeed if we walk it together. Please join me in raising your voice this Malala Day.
And on her website, Malala posted this short video of her story:
