Watch: Concerned Local Citizen Rants Against Equality For Gay People For Seven Minutes

A concerned local Michigan citizen spoke against equality for gay people for more than seven minutes, to intermittent applause from the audience, at a Sterling Heights city council meeting. “The gas pump does not belong in the radiator,” he yelled, making other interesting comparisons.

The self-proclaimed leader of what he claims is a group called the Vanguard of Christ the King spent seven and a half minutes last week yelling to the Sterling Heights, Michigan city council about why he opposes a non-discrimination ordinance. The elderly man, who identified himself as Don Lobsinger, appeared angry as he delivered his diatribe against equality for LGBT people, or, as he calls them, people who have “the gay condition” and exhibit “gay behavior.”

Sterling Heights’ non-discrimination ordinance, he says in the video below, “is a violation of the principle of equality, because it singles out specula treatment and special protection,” and would make “homosexuals more equal than non-homosexuals.” That line received applause from a few in the audience.

“All men,” the Vanguard of Christ the King leader claims, have an “obligation…to recognize and acknowledge God.”

His other reasons for opposing the ordinance were numerous.

“Criminals are not equal to the law-abiding. Cowards are not equal to heroes. The vicious are not equal to the virtuous. Losers are not equal to winners,” the Homer Simpson-like character ranted, on and on.

Some of Lobsinger’s more amusing comparisons, which he seemed to believe were valid reasons for opposing equality included, “the gas pump does not belong in the radiator,” and, “if someone is in the lunchroom, and put a banana in his ear – instead of his mouth – every one of you would say there was something wrong with him!”

When his allotted time was drawing to a close, he challenged the mayor to a debate. “A public debate,” he repeated, “because I’ll lick the hide off of you.”

Law enforcement offices were asked to remove him.

As he was escorted away, he concluded, “you can’t stand the truth!”

The ordinance passed by a unanimous 7-0 vote.

This story has been updated to include the name of Don Lobsinger (who, apparently, may be this man.)
