Top Anti-Gay Group Links Same-Sex Marriage To Santa Barbara Killing Spree
Family Research Council senior fellow and spokesperson Ken Blackwell yesterday managed to link the weekend killing spree in Isla Vista/Santa Barbara, which resulted in seven deaths, to same-sex marriage. FRC president Tony Perkins told Blackwell he believes the shootings and stabbings were the result not only of “the instruments being used,†but of “something fundamentally, deeply flawed in our culture when people can kill and have no remorse.â€
Blackwell, who is an NRA board member, pointed to “the crumbling of the moral foundation of the country†and “the attack on natural marriage and the family… that have been a part of the teaching of sexual roles and the development of human sexuality in our culture.â€
Right Wing Watch notes that Blackwell has previously described marriage equality advocates as “opponents of natural marriage.â€
Listen:
Blackwell, writing at Catholic.org in March, claimed that “the poor, the marginal, single mothers, fatherless children… will suffer†from same-sex marriage. “When counterfeit marriage is allowed, true marriage declines. We have seen this happen in all the Socialist countries of Europe… Allowing two men or two women to claim marriage rights abolishes marriage.â€
Blackwell has previously stated there’s “nothing more Christianâ€Â than gutting food stamps. He has tried to suggest that a gay high school teen was crowned Prom Queen because of Sesame Street indoctrination. He also has tried to imply that our government and, somehow, Sesame Street, are part of a totalitarian regime that seeks to destroy the family and religion. He has alsopainted President Obama as a communist “dead set†on “destroying families.â€
