Misogynistic Christian, ‘RU Dateable,’ And Ex-Gay Speaker Arrested For Public Intoxication

A Christian motivational speaker who makes his living touring the country to visit high schools to deliver his “RU Dateable” and “Is It Holy” misogynistic lectures was arrested this week after being found drunk and lying in vomit in the back seat of a car.

Do you remember Justin Lookadoo? He’s the self-styled Christian speaker who delivers dating advice to high school students in presentations paid for by local school boards and PTAs. Lookadoo has been on the radar of news outlets for years, at least as far back as 2006 when he was giving advice to kids at sleep-away Christian ex-gay camps. Lookadoo reinvents his schtick every few years, but his iconic peroxide bleached spiky hair seems have stayed the same — at least on his website.

Shockingly, his career didn’t end after he made national news for telling students at a Texas public high school — according to one girl who tweeted his lecture, “Ladies, I’m going to say this in the nicest way possible….you are the most horrible, awful, vindictive creatures this planet has ever seen,” “There are some major differences between guys and girls! Girls can’t drive! They can only drive in circles!,” and, “The effort put into relationships just dictates how much it’ll rip you apart when it ends.”

But he’s known for the advice on his RU Dateable website, including his “Rules for Dating.”

“Dateable girls know how to shut up,” Lookadoo says on his R U Dateable website. “They don’t monopolize the conversation. They don’t tell everyone everything about themselves. They save some for later. They listen more than they gab.”

“God made guys as leaders. Dateable girls get that and let him do guy things, get a door, open a ketchup bottle. They relax and let guys be guys. Which means they don’t ask him out!!!”

“Dateable girls know that guys need to be needed. A Dateable girl isn’t Miss Independent. She knows we are made for community. Needing each other is part of faith. She allows him to be needed at times, knowing he was called to serve just as much as she was.”

Lookadoo doesn’t reserve his advice to girls.

“Dateable guys know they aren’t as sensitive as girls and that’s okay. They know they are stronger, more dangerous, and more adventurous and that’s okay. Dateable guys are real men who aren’t afraid to be guys.”

And now the law has caught up with Lookadoo — though not for his lectures.

“The guy,” the Dallas Observer’s  Stephen Young writes, “is basically rape culture anthropomorphized, given frosted tips and sprinkled with Bible dust. And the day Lookadoo had on Tuesday is proof that there is some, if not enough, justice in the world.”

According to a report from Evansville, Indiana’s, WFIE, Lookadoo failed to show up for a speaking engagement at an Evansville’s Teen Power Camp because he had been booked into the county jail.

WFIE reports that law enforcement found Lookadoo asleep in his car off the side of the road. He told the officers that he’d pulled over to take a nap, but, according to the report, the authorities realized something was amiss when they smelled alcohol on Lookadoo and noticed he had vomited in his car.

Officials say Lookadoo failed field sobriety tests and had a BAC of .07. He was arrested for public intoxication and posted bond later Tuesday morning.

If that weren’t enough, Gawker adds more.

According to WFIE, Lookadoo failed a field sobriety test and had a BAC of .07. Ironically, as Raw Story points out, Lookadoo had uploaded a video to YouTube last year titled “Is Alcohol Consumption Okay?” in which he tells teens that it isn’t a question of whether drinking is “good” or “bad,” but rather a question of, “Is it holy?”

“Is it holy” is the official tagline for Lookadoo’s brand, one he apparently does not actually believe enough to renew the domain to his website devoted to it, but enough to charge you $20 for a bracelet that says, “Is it holy?”
