Look: First Same-Sex Couples Marry In Indiana (Photos!)

Little more than an hour after a federal judge struck down Indiana’s ban on same-sex marriage, couples have begun marrying. Take a look at these photos!

About as quick as you could say, “I do!” couples were lining up in county clerks offices after a federal judge this afternoon struck down Indiana’s ban on same-sex marriage. One couple in particular grabbed the spotlight as the first same-sex couple to wed in the state.

“Craig Bowen and Jake Miller were the first couple to get their marriage license and be married in Indianapolis,” the Indy Star reports.

Bowen and Miller plan to celebrate their marriage with a champagne toast this afternoon. The couple met eight years ago through a mutual friend, Bowen said, gazing at Miller.

“Our parents don’t know yet, so they might be a little mad at us,” Miller said with a chuckle. “I sent Craig a text and said ‘Hey, do you want to get married today?’ “

Craig said yes, and they headed to the county clerk’s office, where they were the first same-sex couple to arrive.

“I love you,” Miller told Bowen after their ceremony.
