Fox And Friends: IRS ‘Intentionally Leaked’ NOM Tax Returns To HRC

Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy wrongly claimed this morning that “the IRS intentionally leaked” the National Organization For Marriage’s donor list to the nation’s top gay rights organization.

Fox & Friends is the low-information viewers’ dream come true. With unintelligent personalities like Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Steve Doocy, and Brian Kilmeade twisting truth into what conservative viewers want to hear five days a week, it’s a goldmine of ignorance and misinformation.

Take this morning’s interview with National Organization For Marriage president Brian Brown (image). NOM earlier this month lost their case against the IRS. In brief, an IRS employee made a mistake and forgot to remove names, addresses, and dollar amounts from a 990 form — a required filing — and sent it to someone who worked for an investment house with ties to Mitt Romney, in response to their Freedom of Information request.

The court agreed it was employee error, but on this morning’s show, Doocy stated “the IRS intentionally leaked private information to the Human Rights Campaign. The court ruling, which you can read here, clearly states it was an employee error, and the IRS did not give the information to HRC.

NOM, of course, wrongly states today their lawsuit was “successful.”
