Watch: This Is How You Resign On-Air On Live TV
RT is Russia’s foray into the Western media world. Its actually funded by the Russian government and broadcast into 100 countries with access by over 644 million people — about twice as many people as in all of the United States.
RT used to be somewhat more independent, but ever since Vladimir Putin reorganized Russian media into a strong arm of the Russian government, that independence has been non-existent.
(By the way, the executive Putin chose to oversee all of Russian media is the same man who said the hearts of gay people are are “unsuitable†for human life. Wonder why Putin put him in charge…)
And so, RT has been publishing and broadcast happy stories about what a wonderful thing it is that Russian soldiers are in the Ukraine, helping citizens, and posing for happy photos.
Which, is of course, a load of horse hockey.
Today, explaining she could not betray her family — she has relatives who escaped from Russian forces before — RT anchor Liz Wahl delivered a brave and empowered speech, and quit, live, on the air.
Congratulations, Ms. Wahl! Well-done!
