HBO has released a preview of Larry Kramer’s classic “The Normal Heart,” which examines the fear, panic, fight for acknowledgment and attention against public indifference, and lives lost in the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in New York City’s early 1980’s.

Directed by Ryan Murphy, the drama stars Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch, Jim Parsons and Julia Roberts, Alfred Molina, Joe Mantello, Jonathan Groff, Denis O’Hare, Stephen Spinella, Corey Stoll, Finn Wittrock, and BD Wong.

Kramer originally wrote “The Normal Heart” as an autobiographical play. It ran off-Broadway in 1985 and in 2004, and on Broadway in 2011.

“The Normal Heart” will premiere on HBO May 25.
