School: 9-Year Old Boy To Blame For Being Bullied, Bans His ‘My Little Pony’ Backpack

Grayson Bruce, a nine-year old boy is to blame for being bullied by his classmates, say elementary school officials who have now banned his My Little Pony backpack for being the source of the attacks.

Makes sense, right?

Of course not.

In fact, Noreen Bruce, Grayson’s mom, calls it “flawed logic; it doesn’t make any sense,” and adds, “saying a lunchbox is a trigger for bullying is like saying a short skirt is a trigger for rape.”

Grayson is a big fan of My Little Pony, but when he brought his new Rainbow Dash backpack to school,  classmates at his North Carolina school started “punching me, pushing me down, calling me horrible names, stuff that really shouldn’t happen,” he told WLOS News.

Grayson’s mom says she “was later contacted by the principal saying Grayson could no longer bring this lunchbox to school. My son is being called awful names and has even been told to ‘go home and kill himself!’ Now on top of everything he can’t bring a lunch box he really likes and I feel like is being sent the message that this is his fault.”

And she says one school counselor told her Grayson “should hide his lunch box in his backpack and that when you carry things like that these things happen.”

There’s a Change.org petition demanding school authorities “crack down on the bullying” and let Grayson “bring his backpack to school.”

There’s also an awesome Facebook page, Support For Grayson, with over 14,000 “likes,” including this fantastic video from Andrew Seaweed Sowards, who apparently is serving in the U.S. military. Looking at his Facebook cover photos, Sowards apparently also is a “brony,” a guy who like My Little Pony.
