This morning GLAAD announced their nominees for the 25th annual GLAAD Media Awards. Across 41 categories, GLAAD’s Media Awards “recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.”

The New Civil Rights Movement is honored for the third year in a row to be among the nominees for “Outstanding Blog,” and we congratulate our excellent fellow nominees: Autostraddle, Elixher, Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters, and TransGriot, all of whom do important work for our community.

“Since its inception 25 years ago, the GLAAD Media Awards have reshaped the news and entertainment industries, inspiring thoughtful and inclusive characters and plotlines that have driven equality forward,” said GLAAD President Sarah Kate Ellis in a statement. “This year has brought momentous progress for LGBT people and families – and our nominees have created images and stories that continue to challenge misconceptions, shatter stereotypes, and change hearts and minds of millions all across the globe.”

GLAAD has posted the full list of this year’s nominees, which is also available through GLAAD’s main awards page.
