The vast majority of the Louisiana House this week voted against a bill that would finally have removed their anti-sodomy laws from the state statutes. Anti-sodomy laws were ruled unconstitutional eleven years ago by the U.S. Supreme Court, yet just last year a Louisiana parish used anti-sodomy laws to arrest at least 12 men for consensual same-sex sex.
While those lawmakers were literally touting their high morals and Christian faith as reason to not “rubber stamp” the nation’s highest court’s ruling, they were blindly ignoring the fact that having sex with a dead body is perfectly legal in their fine state.
Yes, there is no law in Louisiana against necrophilia.
While seventeen states still have laws on the books that make sex between two people of the same gender illegal — along with anal and oral sex between any two (or more) people — Louisiana isn’t outraged about their lack of anti-necrophila laws.
