Look: Sochi Olympics Logo Comes Up One Ring Short

The anecdotal evidence that Putin’s Olympics are not ready for prime time just got much stronger. For a moment, ignore the tales of missing shower curtains, putrid yellow drinking water, toilets sealed shut into a wall, and the admission that the hotel showers have secret surveillance cameras.
Today, as the Games officially began, the iconic Olympic logo malfunctioned, displaying just four lit rings, instead of five.
New York Magazine rates the Opening Ceremony “a B-minus, as only 80 percent of the Olympic rings bothered to show up. Welcome to Russia!”
Big deal?
Of course not.
But an embarrassment all the same to the man who wants to be recognized as an international leader willing to spend over $50 billion to build and host the 2014 Winter Olympics.
