Maybe we admire and respect Jon Stewart so much because he consistently says what we’re all thinking. Like last night, in his examination of how local and national TV news is reporting on the Polar Vortex — this historic snap of frigid, often double-digit negative temperatures that are sweeping much of the nation this week.
Stewart took on the climate change/global warming deniers at Fox News, who so ignorantly are claiming that cold temperatures “prove” climate change/global warming isn’t real.
“There you have it: ‘War on Christmas’ is over — ‘War on Carbon’ begins,†Stewart said. “Global warming: Just one more ‘liberal conspiracy.’ Because even though there is a great deal of scientific data establishing climate change trends. Even though many of the models of global warming predict more extremes of weather — not just warming — apparently decades of peer-reviewed scientific study can be, like a ficus plant, destroyed in one cold weekend.â€
Stewart rightly vented his wrath on Fox News, especially Fox’s Stuart Varney, who said, “Looks to me like we’re looking at global cooling, forget this global warming — that’s just my opinion.”
“Yeah, your f*cking opinion — that’s just your opinion,†Stewart exploded. “It means nothing!â€
Stewart also slammed Fox News’ Eric Bolling, who claims that the thousands of scientists — the vast, vast, vast majority of scientist around the world who all agree climate change is not only real, it’s dangerous — are getting paid to believe in climate change.
Bolling said that “these scientists are laughing from their lavish laboratories and their vacations up in the Arctic.”
