At Sunday night’s Academy Awards, Jared Leto delivered an inspiring and beautifully heart-warming speech, dedicating his “Dallas Buyers Club” Oscar to “the 36 million people who have lost the battle to AIDS, and to those of you who have ever felt injustice because of who you are or who you love.”

While it’s a beautiful speech, some are angered Leto, who played a trans woman, didn’t mention transgender people specifically.

Leto, who won the “Best Supporting Actor” award last night, ended his speech talking about AIDS and LGBT people, but that wasn’t the only statement the 42-year old actor from Louisiana made.

He thanked his mother “for teaching me to dream.”

And then Leto made a strong political statement to people being oppressed and attacked by governments.

“To all the dreamers out there all around the world watching this tonight, in places like the Ukraine and Venezuela, I want to say, we are here, and as you struggle to make your dreams happen, to live the impossible, we’re thinking of you tonight.”
