The former Arkansas governor and former GOP presidential candidate also attacked Democrats for wanting women to believe they need government — whom he colorfully nicknamed “Uncle Sugar” — to control their libidos.
Democrats, the 58-year old ordained Baptist preacher told his fellow Republicans that Democrats “want women to believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government.”
Unbeknownst to Huckabee, contraception does not affect a woman’s “libido.”
“Let us take this discussion all across America because women are far more than the Democrats have played them to be,†a very animated Huckabee added. “And women across America need to stand up and say ‘Enough of that nonsense.’â€
Huckabee quit the 2012 GOP race, saying his heart wasn’t in it and adding that to run for president you need to feel a strong fire to lead — something he said he did not. Recently, Huckabee has made clear he’s thinking of running again.
MSNBC, which published the video below, adds, “Huckabee urged Republicans to have a war ‘for women: to empower them to be something other than victims of their gender.'”
