GOP Candidate For Congress: Tornadoes And Autism God’s Punishment For Gay Marriage

var addthis_config = {“data_track_addressbar”:true};

A Republican candidate for the U.S. Congress says that disease and dangerous weather events are the result of an “angry” God who is punishing America. Susanne Atanus is on her third run for Congress. She is opposing long-time Democratic U.S. Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky of Illinois.

“God is angry,” Atanus says. “We are provoking him with abortions and same-sex marriage and civil unions. Same-sex activity is going to increase AIDS. If it’s in our military it will weaken our military. We need to respect God.”

Atanus made her remarks during an interview with Daily Herald editorial board.

“Abortions should not be used for birth control,” Atanus also said. “I am a conservative Republican and I believe in God first.”

The Herald adds Atanus “said she believes God controls the weather and has put tornadoes and diseases such as autism and dementia on earth as punishment for gay rights and legalized abortions.”

Atanus is reportedly a member of the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East.

If you’re finding all this offensive, imagine how her Republican opponent, whom she will face in a Republican primary, must feel.

Actually, you don’t have to.

Watch Atanus’ Republican challenger, David Earl Williams — himself with exceptionally strong liabilities — react to her increasingly ridiculous comments.
