Elisabeth Hasselbeck Thought Obama’s Spoof With Galifianakis ‘Seemed Pretty Real’

Apparently, Elisabeth Hasselbeck didn’t quite get what was going on with President Barack Obama appearing on a fake talk show with comedian and actor Zach Galifianakis. The 36-year old former co-host of “The View” also didn’t think it was appropriate at all for the President to be advertising a law.

Huh?

On Fox & Friends this morning, the crew — Hasselbeck, Peter Johnson, and Brian Kilmeade — debated the video which has become an Internet sensation (even if you didn’t think it was funny.)

“Should the president of the United States being doing this online?” Kilmeade asked, as if doing it in person or live on stage would have been better? “With Will Ferrell’s online site, with Zach Galifianakis, playing the straight man? It is so inappropriate!”

“It was inappropriate for who?” Peter Johnson asked.

“For the president of the United States to be sitting down for an interview that’s a mock up,” Kilmeade replied.

“Some would argue that it’s inappropriate for the president of the United States to be advertising a law!” Hasselbeck said, rather incensed. “An insurance plan!”

“The whole thing was a big mock up,” Kilmeade replied. “I think it was pretty tragic.”

“It seemed pretty real,” Hasselbeck said.

Apparently, the President of the United States being introduced as a “Community Organizer” is “pretty real” to Elizabeth Hasselbeck, who seems to fly further down the Fox News fox hole as each day passes.

The Raw Story notes that in fact, “President Obama isn’t the first commander-in-chief to promote a law that he had signed.”

In 2006, President George W. Bush made appearances to encourage Americans to sign up for the Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit plan, which had gotten often off to a slow start.

It’s the President’s signature piece of legislation that the GOP has literally voted to reconfigure or repeal exactly 50 times now.

Why wouldn’t he do all he can to help ensure its success?
