Cheating ‘Family Values’ Congressman ‘Most Non-Religious Person I Know’ Says Spurned Husband

How sleazy can someone get?

Take freshman Republican U.S. Congressman Vance McAllister of Louisiana.

News broke late yesterday that Congressman McAllister was caught on security camera tape kissing a staffer, Melissa Hixon Peacock, in his office. Rep. McAllister ran on a “family values” platform infused with God, religion, and “traditional marriage.” McAllister included his wife and their five children in practically if not every ad he ran. He claimed as an advantage the fact that he wasn’t a career politician, and would bring his “traditional values” to Washington, D.C. so he could repeal Obamacare and audit the IRS.

That’s a load of hogwash.

At least, that’s what Vance McAllister’s longtime childhood friend, business associate of sixteen years, and husband of the woman reportedly kissing McAllister in the security footage says.

This is tragic.

“I know his beliefs,” Heath Peacock told CNN today:

“When he ran one of his commercials, he said ‘I need your prayers,’ and I asked, ‘When did you get religious?’ He said, ‘When I needed votes,’” Peacock recalled. “He broke out the religious card and he’s about the most non-religious person I know.”

“I’m just freaking devastated by the whole deal, man. I loved my wife so much. I cannot believe this. I cannot freaking believe it. I feel like I’m going to wake up here in a minute and this is all going to be a bad nightmare,” Heath Peacock told CNN Tuesday.

“He has wrecked my life,” Peacock, 34, said of McAllister. “We’re headed for divorce.”

Heath and Melissa Peacock have been married for six years and have a 6-year-old son.

McAllister, who is married with five children, issued a statement on Monday saying, “There’s no doubt I’ve fallen short and I’m asking for forgiveness. I’m asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve.”

Heath Peacock noted that “he’s apologized to everyone in the world except me.”

Remember, same-sex marriage is going to decimate “traditional” different-sex marriage, gay people can’t be monogamous, and aren’t fit to raise children. Or, so people like Vance McAllister say.

McAllister’s bio on Twitter says, “Vance McAllister is a veteran, family man, and self-made businessman. Vance wants to serve because he believes we need more regular folks in Congress.”

In the end, two families have been destroyed — and that’s a real tragedy.

Here’s McAllister’s Facebook post upon his swearing in:
