Breaking: Indiana Voters Will Not Be Able To Ban Same-Sex Marriage This Year
var addthis_config = {“data_track_addressbar”:true};
Much to the surprise of many, the Indiana Senate just made it essentially impossible for an initiative asking voters to ban same-sex marriage in their state constitution to appear on the ballot this year.
Today’s vote was the pretty much the last chance that the legislation, HJR3, had to pass with amendments making it identical to the last session’s bill. It is possible, albeit unlikely, that voters will get the chance to ban marriage equality in 2016.
By then, it’s more likely the Supreme Court will have made same-sex marriage the law of the land.
Congratulations, Indiana!
VICTORY: We just made history, and it’s because of you. #HJR3 will NOT be on the ballot this year. Thank you Indiana! pic.twitter.com/nZH2pZfG6y
