Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer On Anti-Gay License To Discriminate: ‘It’s Very Controversial’

var addthis_config = {“data_track_addressbar”:true};

If you’re looking for clues as to whether or not Jan Brewer will sign SB 1062, the bill Arizona lawmakers passed last night that provides a license to discriminate against gay people, look no further than the 69-year old two-term governor’s own words.

“It’s a very controversial piece of legislation,” Gov. Brewer told reporters today. “We know that it’s failed in a lot of states across the country.”

Brewer says she’s not currently “in town,” but that she’s “been reading about it on the Internet,” and adds, “I will make my decision probably some time by next Friday.”

So, the question becomes, is Republican Gov. Brewer a reader of Fox News or BuzzFeed?

It’s certainly worth noting that Brewer vetoed a similar bill last year, SB 1178 — albeit because she had demanded a budget and said she’d veto any bill that wasn’t a budget. But Brewer also vetoed a similar, albeit more extreme bill in 2011.

Here she is today:
