Centennial senior Ryan Eichenauer has received two typewritten death threats at his Minnesota high school after he shared with his friends on Facebook his YouTube coming out video. Police have been brought in to investigate. “I see there are many others who also want you dead. Good,” one of the letters reads, according to Fox 9, which deleted many obscene words.

“And it’s not just the two of us who have decided to speak up. It’s everyone. […] like you don’t deserve to live in this world. Innocent people die every day, but the scum of the earth like you gets to live? […] that. That is about to change. No one likes the fact that you are alive. No one likes the way you show your sexuality. You are a […] sinner. Someone should do something about it…I will. I am not a coward. I protect the house of god from […] like you.”

Here’s the image Eichenauer posted to Facebook:

Eichenauer told Fox 9, “I know there are going to be people in life who don’t agree with it. But that’s who I am.” In his coming out video, the high school teen says, “I don’t like the term ‘coming out’ because I’m not coming out. I am letting the world in.”

For their part, Fox 9 veers very close to almost blaming Eichenauer for his current troubles, stating he “came out and addressed his sexuality in a very public forum.” Also, perhaps he clarified with Fox 9, but in his coming out video, he doesn’t say he’s gay, he says he’s still attracted to girls, so perhaps he is bisexual, a possibility Fox 9 seems to have ignored.
