‘Traditional Marriage’ Hypocrite And Conservative ‘Hack’ Indicted For Election Fraud

var addthis_config = {“data_track_addressbar”:true};

Dinesh D’Souza may have just become one of the most hypocritical religious conservative “intellectuals” of the decade. In short, he’s a “hack.”

If the name is unfamiliar to you, you probably remember his 2012 fear mongering “film,” 2016: Obama’s America, based on D’Souza’s 2010 book, The Roots of Obama’s Rage. Or perhaps you’re more familiar with his earlier works, including The Enemy At Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11, Obama’s America: Unmaking the American Dream, Illiberal Education: The Politics of Race and Sex on Campus, and, of course, Ronald Reagan: How an Ordinary Man Became an Extraordinary Leader.

You may, of course, also remember Newt Gingrich’s claim, based on D’Souza’s “research,” published in Forbes. Here’s what The Progressive wrote about his article in 2010:

The conservative flamethrower’s recent article in Forbes magazine served as the inspiration for Newt Gingrich’s notorious comment about President Obama’s “Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior” being the essence of his character. Gingrich thinks D’Souza’s piece to be a “stunning insight,” the “most profound insight I have read in the last six years about Barack Obama.”

If that is so, Gingrich has been reading pure garbage for a long time. D’Souza’s piece is psychobabble of the worst sort, replete with errors, falsehoods, and half-truths.

Here’s D’Souza explaining his absurd theory on Obama’s “pathological hatred for traditional Christianity.”

You may also remember D’Souza as the former head of a small New York City Christian college. D’Souza was forced to resign the presidency of The King’s College in 2012 after it was reported he had spent the night in a hotel with a woman. D’Souza is legally-married although divorce papers reportedly have been filed.

D’Souza, of course, is anti-gay and a “traditional marriage” advocate. “Marriage,” he claims, “does not civilize men. Women do. This point is even evident in the gay community: it helps to explain why lesbians are generally much better than male homosexuals in sustaining long-term relationships. The reason that society privileges marriage and gives it a special legal status is because marriage is the only known incubator for the raising of children.”

He’s also written that just “like everyone else, gays do have the right to marry. They have the right to marry adult members of the opposite sex!,” and adds that “if it’s discriminatory to gays to require that marriage be between a man and a woman, why isn’t it discriminatory to Mormons and Muslims to require that it remain between two people? Isn’t incestuous marriage also between ‘consenting adults’ who have a right to equal protection of the laws? And why doesn’t the Fourteenth Amendment protect the fellow who wants to walk down the aisle with his poodle on the grounds that ‘I love my dog and my dog loves me’?”

The point is not that gay marriage is indistinguishable from child marriage or polygamy. The point is that any definition, and marriage is no exception, includes some people and excludes others. Consequently it’s unreasonable to say that gays have a constitutional right to over-ride the definition but other groups do not.

So, now we learn that today, conservative and Christian icon Dinesh D’Souza was indicted by the feds for election fraud.

“According to the indictment,” Mediaite reports, “D’Souza is being charged with ‘violating the federal campaign finance laws by making illegal contributions to a United States Senate campaign in the names of others and causing false statements to be made to the Federal Election Commission in connection with those contributions.'”

The New York Times notes “D’Souza, 52, is a former policy adviser to President Ronald Reagan, and has been affiliated with conservative organizations such as the American Enterprise Institute and the Hoover Institution at Stanford University,” and adds:

D’Souza campaigned in 2012 on behalf of Wendy Long, a lawyer and Republican who sought to unseat Democratic incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand as New York’s junior senator. Long graduated from Dartmouth College in 1982, a year before D’Souza.

Of course, conservatives will blame the “liberal media,” Obama, and maybe even find a way to blame gay people for this “activist” arrest.
