Maybe it’s just me, but I think that at some point you just have to laugh. I mean, what else can a sane person do when they come across someone whose words are not only so filled with hate and ignorance, but are just so plain angry and wrong and un-American?
If I were to write that anti-gay straight people are “Godless human minions of Satan,” or claimed that “God in His judgment … installed” the “tyrant” George W. Bush “to rule over us,” if I said that Guinness beer refused to stand with the hetero-fascist fist, or called marriage between a man and a woman “sin, because that’s exactly what it is and what it will always be, no matter how thick and smothering the black blanket of Sodom and Gomorrah ends up being in the United States,” I don’t know one person who wouldn’t consider having me committed to a mental institution.
But I’m gay, pro-equality, and believe we should all be equal — and treated that way.
Meanwhile, in the religious right wing of America, even though it’s the 21st century, this kind of insane vitriol not only passes as acceptable discourse, it’s (likely) paid for.
Remember Matt Barber? His Twitter profile reads:
Christ follower. Founder of @barbwirecom. Lawyer. Author. Columnist (WND, TheBlaze, WashTimes, etc). Husband. Dad. Ex-pro boxer. Liberal-ticker-offer
Oddly, he’s dropped his affiliation with Liberty University, where he (used to?) teach. His bio at his new right-wing website, BarbWire, says he’s “an attorney concentrating in constitutional law and serves as Vice President of Liberty Counsel Action.” That’s Liberty Counsel Action, an arm of Liberty Counsel, which the Southern Poverty Law Center just added to its list of active anti-gay hate groups.
Anyway, Barber’s BarbWire just posted an article by Gina Miller. Regular readers may remember Miller from a piece we did in December: “Renew America: Godless Fascists Will Follow Satan’s Homosexual Agenda To Murder Christians.”
Yes, when writing at Alan Keyes‘ Renew America, Miller last year tried to claim that the gays are going to try to murder Christians, or something like that: “The Godless communists (or fascists, if you prefer) are using the homosexual agenda to work toward eradicating Christian opposition to their plans, which are Satan’s plans … We are moving steadily toward a time when Christians here in America will be in danger of state-sanctioned murder for their beliefs.”
This is the quality of writer Barber is hiring for his new website.
You really do have to laugh.
Today’s article by Gina Miller is so chock-full of hate and vitriol, again, you just have to laugh, and wonder.
Here’s a sampling:
“The makers of Guinness, Heineken and Sam Adams beers have all caved to the homo-fascist pink fist…”
“The militant homosexual activists wrongly declare that this is about ‘equality.’  That is nonsense. Homosexual behavior is depraved behavior, and it should never be put on the same level as the normal, healthy relationship between a man and wife. The only thing to which homosexual behavior is equal is sin, because that’s exactly what it is and what it will always be, no matter how thick and smothering the black blanket of Sodom and Gomorrah ends up being in the United States.”
“Many of us are watching the dark clouds of evil that are rolling across America, and we are saying it’s the Lord’s judgment on a nation that has spit in His holy face by using the force of law to expel all vestiges of Him and His Truth from the public square.”
“The Godless human minions of Satan are aggressively working to use the force of law to mandate perversity all across our land, in all our institutions, government, military and corporations.”
