14-Year Old Among Three Shot Dead Allegedly By Former KKK Grand Dragon White Supremacist

A 14-year old boy and his grandfather are among the three shot dead yesterday, on the eve of Passover, in a Kansas City suburb during an anti-Semitic shooting rampage. Police quickly arrested a suspect, 73-year old Frazier Glenn Miller (also known as Frazier Glenn Cross) of Aurora, Missouri. Miller is a former leader — known as a “Grand Dragon” — of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and reportedly yelled “heil Hitler” from the back of the police car after being arrested.

Miller yesterday allegedly shot and killed three people in two separate areas of Overland Park, Kansas, about two miles apart. He reportedly used a shotgun or semi-automatic rifle, and may also have used a handgun in the acts. Witnesses report he first asked them if they were Jewish and then shot if they said “yes,” though not all the victims were Jewish.

14-year-old Reat Griffin Underwood and his grandfather, Dr. William Lewis Corporon, were both shot at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City. Underwood died at a local hospital according to the AP, while his grandfather died at the scene. The AP notes that the grandfather and grandson were both Christian. The third victim, shot and killed at a Jewish retirement community, Village Shalom, has not been publicly identified but is believed to be female, age unknown.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which keeps track of over 1000 hate groups and individuals associated with many different hate movements, has tracked Miller for decades.

Miller is the former “grand dragon” of the Carolina Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, which he founded and ran in the 1980s before being sued by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) for operating an illegal paramilitary organization and using intimidation tactics against African Americans.

After subsequently forming another Klan group, the White Patriot Party, he was found in criminal contempt and sentenced to six months in prison for violating the court settlement. He went underground while his conviction was under appeal but was caught by the FBI with a weapons cache in Missouri. He served three years in federal prison after being indicted on weapons charges and for plotting robberies and the assassination of SPLC founder Morris Dees. As part of a plea bargain, Miller testified against other Klan leaders in a 1988 sedition trial.

Miller is a raging anti-Semite who has posted more than 12,000 times on Vanguard News Network (VNN), whose slogan is “No Jews, Just Right.” VNN founder Alex Linder has openly advocated “exterminating” Jews since December 2009. Miller, a close partner to Linder, has called Jews “swarthy, hairy, bow-legged, beady-eyed, parasitic midgets.” Miller is also one of VNN’s largest donors and he printed and distributed thousands of copies of VNN’s newsletter, The Aryan Alternative.

Buzzfeed reports that the suspect in 2012 was invited to speak to a college class at Missouri State University. The “professor who invited him says was intended to illustrate the hatefulness of white supremacy to his students.”

Miller, according to Buzzfeed, later described his visit to the class.

“No holds barred, no quarter given to the 2 kikess’ present, and though I was allotted only 45 minute to speak, plus a 15 minute Q&A period, the 16 students and I ran our mouths, nonstop almost for 2 full hours and 5 minutes. Time flew,” Miller wrote.

Police are investigating the murders as possible hate crimes.

The New Civil Rights Movement reported yesterday that the Southern Poverty Law Center lists one active neo-Nazi hate group in Kansas, and three active white nationalist groups in Missouri. There are also five active KKK groups in Missouri, and one in Kansas.
