Haiti has a population of 9.7 million people, of which 80% are Roman Catholic and 16% are Protestant. So, close to 100% of Haitians are Christianists. Yet today, in the wake of the most devastating earthquake in Haitian history, Evangelical leader Pat Robertson told them all that the need “a great turning to God,” they made a “pact with the Devil” to free themselves from the French. Basically, saying that hundreds of years ago, they mortgaged the lives of their children to Satan.
This is what religious extremism brings.
